Nathan Wing

Hello!

I'm a 22-year old self-taught graphic designer.

After graduating in 2022 with a degree in law, I now have one years of experience working in social media marketing. I'm looking for my first professional role in design.

Below is a collection of some of the work that I have produced so far. Please feel free to have a look, and thanks for stopping by!

That Lot

New Starter Zone

I revamped the company's existing employee onboarding process with a self-initiated project - the New Starter Zone.

Ultimately, I successfully delivered a functional and robust, visually appealing improvement to the onboarding process. I built from the ground up a bespoke platform where new joiners can access  up-to-date information in a centralised and aesthetic manner. I believe that easily-accessible guidance is critical when taking the first steps at a new company.

In addition to creating all of the design assets used on the platform, I gained actual enlightenment and managed to go beyond the restrictive, out-of-the-box SharePoint customisation experience, and ended up deploying my own custom HTML, CSS and Javascript code. This allowed me to honour That Lot's visual identity even more so than was previously possible, ensuring that the user experience was delightful along the way.

Generative Gratitude Gallery

Leveraging the power of Generative AI, I transformed the way the agency treated gratitude submissions from colleagues.

Gratitudes at That Lot are an open submission box that allow anonymous gratitude messages to be submitted and later read in the weekly company meeting. I thought it could be better, so I took the initiative by upgrading our humble gratitude system.

By using the user-submitted messages as prompts for Generative AI, I opened the Generative Gratitude Gallery.

Not only were the named recipients in gratitude messages delighted, but the people who firstly submitted the messages were now artistic geniuses who co-created personal masterpieces.

At a glance -

  • I used the power of generative AI to breathe life into gratitude messages which were previously read out only once, to permanently display new works of art.

  • There were multiple positive outcomes of this endeavour: not only was a prior company process made better, but company culture was boosted and the participation for submitting gratitudes saw an increase. Now, submitting a message meant co-creating artwork. I was also able to showcase my Gen-AI literacy agency-wide.

Age UK "We Are Undefeatable" Storyboarding

As part of Age UK's WAU Campaign, I was given three scripts to illustrate storyboards for.

The rapid turnaround and deadline urged me to illustrate at a pace previously unknown to me, so there was no room for hesitation or doubt! I had two days in which to work, and successfully turned in the storyboards to a happy client and happier team.

Seeing the videos aired on live TV was a really great feeling, and I felt proud knowing I played a significant part in the pre-production and production process.

  • It was crucial to be able to sketch quickly and accurately for this. Mknowledge and experience in perspective drawing, anatomy, figure drawing and environment construction allowed me to deliver what was needed.

Polaroid
Pitch

For this pitch, we suggested that Polaroid works with real designers, illustrators and artists, to design the iconic frames around the iconic Polaroid picture.

I combined both graphic design elements and digital illustration, to decorate Polaroid frames, which were then used to create a mock-up carousel for the Polaroid Instagram page and presented to the client.
